オリエント戦後の初号機、戦後A型のご紹介です。

その端正な佇まい、小ぶりなケースに配された、肉厚で柔らかな曲線を描く風防は、袖口へ品良く収まりつつも確かな存在感を放ちます。また、ファンシーラグとも称される、猫足のような形の優美な曲線を描くラグの造形が目を引きます。

経年によるケース、ラグ部分にメッキ剥がれ等はみられますが、文字盤のコンディシンは非常に良好です。70年の時を超えてなお「輝ける星」としての気品を失わない、貴重な一本です。

Founded in 1951 during Japan’s post-war reconstruction, Orient Watch marked a new chapter in Japanese watchmaking. Alongside this fresh beginning emerged its flagship line, Orient Star—a name that continues to symbolize refinement and ambition.

This early model embodies the elegance of its era. The modestly sized case is complemented by a thick, gently domed crystal that flows in soft curves, slipping gracefully beneath the cuff while maintaining a confident presence on the wrist.

Most captivating are the beautifully sculpted “fancy lugs,” shaped in elegant, cat-paw-like curves. Such refined detailing was reserved for higher-grade models of the time, reflecting the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility of 1950s Japan.

While the case and lugs show signs of plating wear consistent with age, the dial remains in remarkably well-preserved condition. Even after more than 70 years, this timepiece retains the dignity and quiet brilliance worthy of its name—a true “shining star” from a formative era of Japanese horology.
